A network of urban trails expands across a local creek thanks to special co-fabricated weathering steel beams and aluminum railings.
Greene County, OH
In 2012, flooding and erosion forced the Greene County Parks to replace a wooden bridge that connects Rotary Park, Philips Park, and the Beavercreek Wetlands Preserve. The Park Service contracted Axcess to design a permanent solution for this location that would not need to be replaced in the future. Project requirements included:
To meet these requirements, Axcess designed a weathering steel truss bridge with a solid surface fiberglass deck. The design work included raising the bridge’s elevation so it sat above the flood plain, improving access and reducing water damage. This maintenance-free solution saves on upkeep costs for the Park Service and will last for years to come.
