BRIDGE SOLUTIONS

Beam Bridges

Beam bridges are designed with primary support beams under the bridge. Although less efficient than a truss bridges these bridges can be cheaper because there is significantly less labor involved than with truss construction. Axcess designs and installs both steel and FRP beam bridges. Both of these options provide long lasting solutions that will be around for a long time. The decision between a steel and FRP beam comes down to three primary factors: access to the installation location, span and corrosion exposure. Beam bridges are a good choice for bridge spans up to 60 feet.

Why a beam bridge?
  • Remote installation locations lend itself well to FRP beams since they are much lighter than steel beams.
  • The longer the span the better fit a steel beam is because of the steel’s high stiffness.
  • Bridges that are going to be in very wet conditions or exposed to saltwater lead to the selection of FRP beams.

Truss Bridges

Truss structures are the most efficient method to transmit the loading requirements of bridges to the abutments. Axcess designs and installs both steel and FRP truss structures.  Both steel and FRP trusses are long lasting solutions that will be around for a long time.  The decision between a steel truss and the FRP truss comes down three primary factors: access to the installation location, span and corrosion exposure. Truss bridges are a good choice for bridge spans from 40 to 100 feet.

Why a truss bridge?
  • Remote installation locations lend itself well to FRP trusses since they are much lighter and utilize a bolted design so the pieces can be brought to the site with small equipment or human power.
  • The longer the span the better fit a steel truss is because of the steel’s high stiffness.
  • Bridges that are going to be in very wet conditions or exposed to saltwater lead to the selection of FRP trusses.

Deck Replacements

Axcess Bridges specializes in Fiber Reinforced Polymer deck replacements of existing bridge decking. These are usually replacements of concrete or wood decks as well as rails to trails projects. Axcess Bridges designs and installs the FRP decking to bring modern, long-lasting technology to these applications.

What Axcess customers say...

“I have worked on multiple projects with Axcess for the last 5+ years adding or replacing trail bridges on urban walking trails and in remote areas with limited access. In all areas, we were able to work with the Axcess team to design and install bridges ranging from decorative to the most basic small crossing structures that met the diverse needs of our trail users. These bridges have proven to be relatively maintenance-free, cost-effective, and very popular. I wholeheartedly recommend these worthwhile investments for any park system.”
