Cincinnati, OH
The Jackson Grant community has been working on an expansive
walking path for the past several years as it continues to build homes in the
development. They had previously installed a composite bridge to connect the
paths over one of the other creeks and this bridge over Elliot Creek matches
the style along the path as well as connects to a new set of homes being built.
During the installation phase, many homeowners expressed excitement for the
increased walking distance that they now had access to in their own backyard.
The bridge used concrete abutments that were poured and set by
Axcess before the weathered steel beams were set in place. Additionally, Rip
Rap was placed under each abutment to prevent erosion. The walkway selected was
a composite plank that will require no maintenance for the lifespan of the
bridge. Another benefit of the composite planks is the ability to install by
hand without the need for large equipment. The bridge was finished with
attaching wood curbs and aluminum railing and was able to be completed within a
few weeks.
