Red Lion-Five Points Road Trail

The City of Springboro wanted to establish a walking trail along Red Lion-Five Points Road. They contracted Axcess to design a pedestrian bridge solution for a portion of the trail and specified these requirements:

• Maintenance Free. The City hoped to avoid ongoing maintenance and upkeep costs.
• Color Choice. The City wanted a grey bridge to compliment the grey concrete sidewalks leading to and from the bridge.
• Bridge Type. The City preferred not to use a truss bridge for this application.

To meet these requirements, Axess designed a beam bridge made with weathering steel, a fiberglass deck, and an aluminum railing. It was easy to incorporate the desired grey hue into the design thanks to the wide range of available FRP colors and paintable metal materials used. The finished bridge requires no maintenance and will last for years to come.
