Montgomery Park Bridge
Montgomery Park is an urban park in a northeast suburb of Cincinnati. The existing bridge was in desperate need of replacement based on the deterioration of the wood.
BRIDGE TYPES
Truss structures are the most efficient method to transmit the loading requirements of bridges to the abutments. Axcess designs and installs both steel and FRP truss structures. Both steel and FRP trusses are long lasting solutions that will be around for a long time. The decision between a steel truss and the FRP truss comes down three primary factors: access to the installation location, span and corrosion exposure.

The decision between a steel truss and the FRP truss comes down three primary factors: access to the installation location, span and corrosion exposure.
Remote installation locations lend itself well to FRP trusses since they are much lighter and utilize a bolted design so the pieces can be brought to the site with small equipment or human power.
The longer the span the better fit a steel truss is because of the steel’s high stiffness.
Bridges that are going to be in very wet conditions or exposed to saltwater lead to the selection of FRP trusses
Beam bridges are designed with primary support beams under the bridge. Although less efficient than a truss bridges these bridges can be cheaper because there is significantly less labor involved than with truss construction. Axcess designs and installs both steel and FRP beam bridges. Both of these options provide long lasting solutions that will be around for a long time. Suspension bridges are a specialty bridge design that lends itself to long spans. These pedestrian bridges are typically limited to narrow widths and come with a price premium over traditional bridge designs because of the significant foundation work that is required. Most owners pick this type of bridge to achieve a visual that meets their overall development plan. Axcess has the expertise to design and install these types of bridges.
Suspension bridges are a specialty bridge design that lends itself to long spans. These bridges are typically limited to narrow widths. These bridges are a price premium over traditional bridge designs because of the significant foundation work that is required, and the specialty construction required to complete them. Most owners pick this type of bridge to achieve a visual that meets their overall development plan. Axcess has the expertise to design and install these types of bridges.
Axcess designs arch bridges from curved glue-laminated wood beams or rolled steel I-beams. These pedestrian bridges are typically limited to smaller spans and have a price premium over traditional bridge designs because of the expensive materials required. Most owners pick this type of bridge to achieve a visual that meets their overall development plan. Axcess has the expertise to design and install these types of bridges.

The first of multiple projects that Axcess and Clermont County Parks have been able to work together on installing.
This project involved repurposing a railroad bridge with FRP decking and custom railing at the end of the bike and hike trail system in the town of Delphi, Indiana.
